Before the rise of social media and social media influencers, blogging was the way to make your presence online. It seems that blogging has reached it peak and dead. But for us who likes to think and write, blogging is very much alive.
Blogging has many attractions, but before you start this endevor take note on the reason why you would like to start blogging.
Here are some reasons why start a blog or website.
Learn new skills
Writing a blog can open different doors and skills that’s totally different from your current skills. If you read my blog, you can probably tell that I’m not a writer. And that’s the skill that I would like to learn and be good at. You may be technologically challenged, a skill you may pick up and learn is writing using tools such as wordpress , a very popular blogging tool. Learning about webhosting, learning how to get your own website name, figure out out how to check if your website name is available and other technical details.
Document your life
Writing about yourself to have a log or diary to remember happy moments, reflect and learn. Having something to store those memories can help you look back and reflect about your life. But since this will be a public diary of sort, make sure to change names and personal details to prevent hacking.
Learn about topics
For topics that you have some limited knowledge, researching and writing about them will make you learn. This site Ursal.org is basically like that, although this is my surname, I realized that I have a little knowledge on it’s meaning and origin. This is a search for that knowledge.
Generate income
It is possible to earn a living through your blog and that’s what I’m aiming for. A lot of people has been doing it and have proven that it’s possible, but it won’t be easy. Successful bloggers have been doing this for years and had made mistakes on the way. I’m embarking on that journey and is hoping to be successful someday.
