Churchpark convent – Chennai

My neighbour children are studying in grove school for the past 5 years. They told that the teachers are changing frequently for the past 2 to 3 years and so their children can’t able to cope up studies and in maths my neighbour’s students are getting very low marks as the teacher teaches only 1 sum from the lesson and giving the full chapter Homework and if they ask them they told that keep practicising is more important and the children can’t able to understand the sums and automatically they seek the help from their parents. I think you better ask some parents in that school and finalise for your kids admission.
Hi lg
I don’t understand about the grove school here? Is it a name of a school? Is it available at Church Park ?

Hi
We have received call letter from Church Park for LKG(Matric). They have asked us to bring our kid on Mar 11 . Not sure of the next step. Anyone aware of the admission procedure, pls throw some light.
suteja2010-03-07 15:03:29
hi aksh
congrats u will surely be given admission ’cause most of the anglo indian schools would sent call leters only if they are prepared to give it any way do train ur child to tell her name fathers name mothers name and also identifying some colours and few names of animals and vegetables sometimes the interview will get over even without this procedure best of luck
I have also received the interview letter for 11th Mar. However, we wouldn’t attend since we already got admission last week in a neighbourhood school in RA Puram. Though that school (CBSE) has upto 5th Std only, we decided to admit based on factors like nearness to home, transferable nature of my job and cost of relocation to nearby areas, good neighbourhood etc.
For those of you who got interview letters and others waiting for the same – Wish you good luck.
Cheers

Hi Suteja and Ramesh,
Thanks for ur wishes and thanks for the inputs too.
Even we have got admission for our kid in a CBSE school nearby. But we wish to put her into one of the convents so that she gets a good command over the language(english). I myself studied in a CBSE school and had friends from other matric and anglo boards (especially convents) in my school, coping up better than people who had been studying in CBSE right from primary. I feel the ease with which the kids understand the language is important . Anyway this is my viewpoint and I jus’ wanted to share the same.
We have applied for Good Shepherd and planning to get appln from Rosary as well.
For ur info, Rosary is issuing applns on Mar 13th 2010 Saturday from 9 am to 3 pm.
This is again a convent in Santhome and I liked the ambience.
Just keeping my fingers crossed.
Good Luck.
Regards,
Akshara.
Till now I didn’t get Call Letter from Church Park (Matric). Anyone still waiting for it?
Akshara Hi,
Did you attend the interview on 11th. How did it go. What are the school authorities saying about the admission. My meeting is scheduled tomorrow i.e 15th.
Regards
Arun

Hi Arun,
All the best for the interview. We attended the interview on 11 th. It went on well.
Train ur kid in identifying colours, mother’s name, father’s name, identifying pictures, singing rhymes. This was all that they asked my kid. One sister will be questioning the kid and the other wil be interviewing the parents.
They asked us qns like where we did our schooling, college education etc. Have u applied for St.Ursula’s inside the same campus? We did not apply for it and they were asking us the reason for it. We had produced bank passbook as address proof and they were insisting on the ration card instead. They ask u the reason for not trying in the school where u studied. I should tell u this, all the above qns were posed to me alone and not to my husband. I heard it from some other parents that these sisters do not question the men much. I am a housewife and they were like, with such a qualification why r u sitting at home? They try ro unnerve the parents by speaking like this. They were pretty rude.
They said they will get in touch with us.
They seem to have interviewed atleast 45 kids on 11th and I am told there are some 90 seats on the whole.
U have any idea abt the number of seats. Also if u r a roman catholic or a christian, then u stand a better chance of getting selected.
All the best.
Thanks for the interview details. I received call letter, they have asked to come on 24th. We neither has ration card nor the bank passbook. Will they accept passport ? We didn’t apply to St.Ursula school at church park. I heard that there around 120 seats.
Did they say anything about fee during the interview ?
aksh2010-03-14 17:55:15
All the best gmsrinivas.
I think they will accept passport. May be u can jus visit the school sometime before the inteview and get this clarified.
They did not speak abt the fees during the interview. But if u check their website, it says around 13k in the year 2008. It is not updated.
Hi Akshara & Other Parents,
We have attended the discussion today morning along with our daughter. the discussion was pretty simple. the principal was interacting with us and the other sister was questioning our daughter on animals and other basic things.. We were expecting them to revert to us only by end of this month.
But to our pleasant, surprise there was a call from Church Park, informing that our daughter has been selected and we have to pay the fees of Rs. 35000 in cash on thursday.
Anyone, had similar experience. What is your next action plan. .
Kindly share..
You can mail me also arun.chennai@gmail.com

Hi, I too had the same experience as ArunK. We too got call in an hour after interview and my daughter got selected. Earlier we got different feedbacks from others saying they would prefer only christians and need strong recommendations, donations etc…all r false statements…But our experience was very nice and interview went well. So it is purely merit 🙂
Hi gmsrinivas., they accept passport as proof if the address is same you mentioned in application form. I submitted only passport as proof. All the best. Make sure your daughter tells any one rhyme and identifies vegetables, fruits, animals etc from a book.
Hi SakthiJ
Thanks for the info. Did they tell you also the same amount 35k? The previous discussions in this forum, someone told that the fee would be around 15k.
Yes Even for me they asked to bring 35k(fees, not donation) – thursday 8.30am …during admission they would get the original birth certificate and take measurements for school uniform.
Hi Sathi, Arun & Other Parents,
My daughter also got selected and they asked to come on Thursday 10.00am, we had interview on 11-Mar-2010 and we got the call on 15-Mar-2010. Is it a must that we have to pay in cash Rs 3500 can’t we provide a cheque.
aksh2010-03-16 22:25:02
Hi all,
Even my kid got selected and we have been asked to come at 9:30 for uniform measuremts and fees paymt(35000) on thursday. Even we were expecting their call sometime around end of month, once interview gets over for all kids. It was a pleasant surprise for us.
All the best to all the kids and parents.
Regards,
Akshara.
Hi All,
Is the 35000 is Annual Fee or Term Fees. Do anyone of your childrens is studying in Sacred Heart Matriculation School. What is the fee structure for UKG is the same amount or less amount. Are they providing transportation facility
Congrats to those of you who got seat for your kids. I also got call letter but did not attend as we got admission in a neighbourhood school. I am very surprised to see such a high fee for LKG from a Matric school, that too from a missionary run institution. Once some of you pay the fees, please clarify its composition (how much of term fee and refundable caution deposit). Even the best known CBSE schools in Chennai did not charge this much.
If 35K is just term fee, then its not justified, in my personal opinion. If Sacred Heart is charging this much, I am worried about the fee structure of Good Sheperd school, which is about to follow.
I am also worried for the parents opting for admission next year. Because if Matric based schools can charge this much and can attract a crowd, then next year all the well known CBSE schools will raise the fees for LKG and other classes which will be followed by Matric schools. This will become a vicious circle.
To the best of my knowledge, last year my friend managed admission with Sacred Heart @ 25K (mid year). This year its like 40% hike over last year’s fees. Do any of us get a 40% year over year in our salaries? School fees never go southwards. Is this sustainable?
Share your thoughts.
Cheers

@DrRamesh,
I agree with u Ramesh. Its definitely not justifiable if its the term fees. We will have to find out from the office people regarding this. I remember seeing in their site which is not updated showing 13000 in the yr 2008 and I was really surprised when they said 35000 in 2010.
Anyways we felt if its the annual fee, then its fine as some of the eminent CBSE schools were charging much more.
Moreover this yr they have sold around 350 applns for LKG as against other yrs where they usually sell close to 1000 applns. I hope they dont keep increasing the fees every year by such a hi percentage.
Regards,
Akshara.
Hi ,
I found out , 35000 is Annual Fee, its ok for LKG, but for UKG its high, we have to get the break up of the 35000 then only we will get an idea about the next year fees
Hi,
Anyone of the parent is going to pay the fees on tommorrow
Hi,
Anyone of the parent is going to pay the fees on tommorrow
Yes Meena, we have to pay by cash only. I am going to pay tomorrow! Hope it is annual fee including school dress 🙂 I heard from known source that from UKG we need to pay around 25k each year. No fees inbetween. compared to schools who give donation form along with app form, this is far far better…anyways would know the fact only tomorrow
Thanks Sakthi for the information. Actually i wanted to put my daughter in Holy Angels which is very nearby to our house , but they r issuing the forms on 01-may-2010 and the fee is also only around 15000. That’s why iam thinking whether to pay the fees or not.
Hi All,
Holy angels is closest to me. But we cannot keep our fingers crossed until May. If we don’t get the seat there, we will be caught in no mans land.
I am going ahead and paying the fees.
Regards
Arun
