About Us

Ursal , a family name, sometimes auto corrects to Ursula, an Acronym from South America, and maybe more. A unique name where I grew up but maybe not from other parts of the world.

The idea about this this site was to be a family website, to update our friends and family but then facebook came along. So there’s a detour in the direction that this website.

Our side of the Ursal’ family are from Bogo, Cebu in the Philippines although I’ve grew up in the Capital Manila. In Manila, our surname is not common like other Filipino surnames such as Cruz, Santos, etc.

Our understanding of the Ursal side of our family is limited. Our father experienced early hardships, losing his parents at a young age. He lived with different relatives before eventually moving to Manila while still very young. Although we know some of his brothers and sisters, there’s not much information available about our grandparents, aside from knowing their names. It feels like piecing together a family story with some gaps, and we’re eager to discover more about our heritage.

So I guess this will be our own ancestry.com, trying to trace our family roots while gathering information about our family name.

I’ve always thought that Ursal is a Hispanic name and quite surprised to see that there was Ursal.com which was a German site, now is for sale. I wonder what Ursal means in Germany. I’ve also known and communicated with Ursal’s from India via facebook . And an Acronym ( (Union of Socialist Republics of Latin America) )term coined in 2001 by Brazilian sociologist Maria Lúcia Victor Barbosa to mock criticism of left-wing politicians and intellectuals with regards to the proposed Free Trade Area of the Americas.

Ursal.org has become a site to collect and gather Ursal information as well as other information that I come across and find fascinating.
