PUNE: A 30-year-old man was arrested on Sunday for bludgeoning his father to death following a dispute over selling a piece of land at Singapur village in Purandar taluka on Friday.
The Saswad police identified the deceased as Prakash Ursal (55) of Singpur. His son, Rohan, was arrested under Section 302 (murder) of the IPC.
Assistant inspector Rajesh Mane of the Saswad police said Rohan was forcing his father to sell their land because he needed money, but the latter was not keen on it. “Rohan and his father always argued over it,” he said.
Rohan went to his father’s house around 7pm on Friday and began pursuing him to sell the land. “A brawl ensued. Rohan bludgeoned Ursal with a stick and assaulted him with a sharp weapon,” he said. Ursal’s wife, Shobha, took him to a nearby hospital and later shifted him to a hospital in Pune. “He succumbed to injuries during the treatment on Saturday,” he said.
Roshan was taken into custody on Sunday. A local court remanded him in police custody till November 13, police said.
